A test to create a simple 3D environment for a real world object. The car was spun round on a mirror, and a road created within After Effects was rotated to match the movement. The masking was left loose as I didn't think a clean-up was worth it for this test (if the effect looked half convincing it would be worthwhile to reshoot with greenscreen).
The car is Shockblast.

I have been trying to understand tracking a little better, and this is a small test that started as a tracking exercise.
The original footage (from Revenge of the Sith) was first stabilised to remove the slow zoom. A clean background plate was then patched together from a variety of frames so that when the heads were removed there wouldn't be a hole in the background. Next the heads were removed, and new heads shot. The new heads were then tracked to the footage and composited over the new background to fit the scene. To finish the zoom was added again by scaling up the completed composition.
I'm reasonably pleased with this as a test, not perfect, but a start!

Creating the look of Sin City (based from the trailers at least) mixed with a bit of the Matrix. The music is from The Matrix Revolutions (The Trainman Cometh - Juno Reactor and Don Davis).
UPDATE: If you would like to learn more about this effect, there is a walkthrough written here.

Apparently you're nobody in effects untill you've done a lightsaber - so here's my attempt! The saber is made using a variation of Ryan Wieber's method so that the saber has a trail. In addition to the saber, there are some smoke effects, wall slicing and a robotic clone.

An ambush! This was a short test to see if blood splatters could be effectively added in post (no bloody mess to clean up), along with cloning and artificial camera movement.
UPDATE: If you would like to learn more about this effect, there is a tutorial written here.

This was a brief sequel to the Hallway Ambush video, where the clones are preparing to strike back.
In reality, this was an attempt at mixing a faked pan from within a computer with an actual pan, and it turned out pretty well.
